Studying for the 2nd line or tone

Unlike a 1st line which has to go deep into things in order to have a grasp of them, the 2nd line is a natural, i.e., it does things without having to know what it's exactly doing or how it's doing what it does.

That's not to say that the 2nd line doesn't enjoy studying. It does, actually, as long as what it takes in isn't the same old stuff. I mean, what is of interest to the 2nd Line is what it has never heard or seen before, the raw diamond among common stones, as what it wants to breathe is fresh air, air coming from a different place. That's where the call to study comes from for the 2nd line.

And then, whatever is there for it to take in, the 2nd line has to like it. Differently, none of that will pass through the barrier. So, either the subject it has to deal with is pleasant in itself, or there has to be a way for the 2nd line to like it. In that sense, a different teacher or a different way of presenting information might make the whole difference for it.
